About Us

“Always, my desire is to uncover each of my patient’s potential beauty, guiding them towards being the best possible version of themselves ... not just to chase wrinkles or make cheeks or lips larger, just because I can. That would be an insult to modern, science-based aesthetic medicine. I would never suggest any treatment that I would not be prepared for either my children or myself to undergo.”

My Story

I always wanted to have a career that involved helping others, and so it was that I trained in clinical radiology as a first degree, but having reached the top of that ladder, which meant the inevitable bureaucracy, I realised I wanted more involvement with my patients, and so I went back to university as a postgraduate, to train as a nurse. It was a huge decision as I had to go right back down the ladder to the most junior level again, but I have never regretted it and have found that each of these two clinical specialisms has served to compliment the other, alongside palliative care, which has also played a significant part in my career. However, unexpectedly, in amongst these years of hospital work, along came aesthetic and regenerative medicine….

I am often asked during a consultation with a new patient, how or why I began practicing medical aesthetics. A perfectly natural question, of course, but I believe my answer to them is often unexpected and unconventional. There is that expression ‘a happy accident’, but sadly my initiation into aesthetic medicine was bittersweet.

Back in 2009, I was nursing in a medical oncology unit, and on this pivotal day, I called in my next patient, and a young woman with auburn hair and the greenest Irish eyes sufficient to enchant anyone appeared at the door. Her name was Marianna, and she was as beautiful as she was ravaged, and looked way beyond her 39 years. She walked in, sat down and wept. A few hours beforehand she had received the news that anyone dreads hearing: her aggressive cancer had been kept as bay for as long as possible, but it had now spread throughout her body, and she was given merely months to live. Much of my job at that time was spent sitting, listening, holding a devastated patient’s hand whilst feeling impotent to help, besides just being there. This was one such day I will never forget.

Marianna’ s enormous grief largely centred around her children, all three of whom were under eight, children she would never get to see grow up. And then there was her partner. They had met at university and had been the best of friends always, shared a life together, had the children but never quite got around to marriage. At this part of the conversation, she cried ever harder, saying that now it would never happen and anyway, ‘look at me’ she said, waving a hand across her face. The beautiful auburn wig on her head solved the problem of a post-chemotherapy bald head, with just wisps of hair, but what could be done about her weary, war-torn face?

That was when I remembered recently reading about botulinum toxin injections and dermal fillers. I tentatively mentioned these potential aesthetic medicine treatments and asked her if she would like me to investigate, so that maybe, over the next few weeks a low-key wedding could be planned for her and her family, if she felt more confident in her appearance? For the first time that afternoon, she smiled and thought maybe a wedding would be possible after all.

Over the following week, much research was undertaken, and as they say, the rest is history. I fell in love with the magic of aesthetic medicine, and Marianna learned to love herself once more. With a flurry of hastily organised appointments as much as she could tolerate, with her health rapidly deteriorating, the bride-to-be’s beautiful face regained its younger, less ravaged appearance, and Marianna felt that the mirror was no longer her enemy.

On 9th June 2009, with her partner and three little girls holding tightly onto her, Marianna walked down the outdoor garden aisle, endlessly smiling, with honeysuckle and rose-covered garlands scenting the air, and together, this little family delighted relatives and friends as they created a memorable day. She looked exquisite, happy and contented. Now a married woman, Marianna died three weeks later, but with her husband by her side.

And so began my love affair and journey into medical aesthetics, where the joy and pleasure of helping someone regain their confidence and sense of self has just grown stronger and deeper over the last 15 years. I have subsequently trained in numerous specialities within this field of medicine, and I still love the intricate moulding and meshing of the many varied, but complimentary bespoke treatments I can offer you. We are all unique and now, a decade and a half since that beautiful wedding day, our evidence-based scientific knowledge continues to grow beyond imagination.

Back then, in the early 2010’s, I am amazed to think how little we knew about exactly how the few available aesthetic procedures functioned within the skin. We saw the results but sometimes it could have been alchemy! No one really questioned the why!

Here we are now, in 2025, and with 15 years of experience in aesthetics under my belt and with a deep understanding of the anatomy and physiology of aging and skin health, I provide advanced, regenerative results-driven treatments, tailored to your unique needs, whether in your 30s or way beyond, in your 80s! I especially love to give back confidence to peri-menopausal, menopausal, and post cancer treatment patients, through holistic, gentle care and support.

At Pom Pom, your inner beauty and happiness will be brought out once again and will be reflected in your face. No one is too young, nor too old to feel good within their own skin. Please remember, age is no barrier to having nice skin, nor to looking good and healthy, since we have regenerative treatments to help everyone. I feel that everyone deserves to be confident in their own skin, and that our own individual beauty radiates from within. As such, we do not have to chase an artificial ideal, like an airbrushed magazine photo, but we can redefine your unique beauty through a combination of aesthetic treatments, skin care, wellness and optimum lifestyle choices. It would be correct to say that my approach to aesthetics is about holistically enhancing, not changing you - genuinely helping you look and feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and the best version of yourself.

Oh, and when I am not in my clinic, I love to spend time with my family and friends, walking and indulging my two working cocker spaniel puppies, as well as cooking nutritional meals and gardening, the produce of which helps provide some of the cookery ingredients!

(Wrinkle Relaxing)

Many people worry about having a frozen face after having wrinkle-relaxing treatments. It was one of my biggest fears, but Penny assured me that my face had a small amount of movement, and yet I looked refreshed and younger. It was my first experience, and I was so happy, I will be back in three months time.
